Over the past week or so I've really come to realize how much society relies upon routines. Sure, we all love a little spontaneity from time to time, but throw a wrench into routine and it's all kind of shot to hell.
My life for example. I have pretty much the same morning routine. Get up, take a shower, turn on the Today Show, get dressed, make my lunch and head on out to work. Pretty simple right? Well my sister was staying with me for the week, which led to me changing my routine in an effort not to wake her up. Day 1 of this I was all thrown off, but then I eventually fell into you guessed it, another routine.
I'm an accountant - one of the most routine occupations around. I know during which weeks I'll be busiest and which ones are ideal for a vacation (yay 5 week months!). But throw in a systems issue and the whole department is in a tizzy. Even when I worked retail, there was the normal cycle of business which set our routines.
How about driving? There's fog - everyone must drive at 20mph. If there's a snow flake, forget it. And let's be sure to slow down and examine the car pulled over on the side of the road due to a flat tire.
I think anyone that says they hate routine isn't being 100% truthful. It's that sense of comfort that we all love. I like knowing that I'll see some cheesy news story during the 7:00 hour of the Today Show (I mean really. I rarely get real news...).
Are we creatures of habit or creatures of comfort?

Allow Me To Introduce Myself...
I'm at a point in my life where I have a lot of thoughts swirling around this head of mine, hell who am I kidding, my brain has always been racing at 1,000 MPH, but the point is, I've decided why not share some of these - maybe someone has something profound to say, or maybe get some amusement out of it.
So allow me to introduce myself in a series of short random sentences. My name is Maria. I'm currently on that never ending journey of self discovery. I have a deep obsession for attending concerts (over 55 strong). I am 110% addicted to coffee. I absolutely love cake. I'm not a fan of monkeys. I am an accountant and going through the battle of obtaining my CPA. I've completed 3 half marathons but I am in no way a runner - I'd like to be, but I can power walk for 3 hours. I like to travel. I love Batman.
What will you find here? It could be anywhere from a deep thought about life to a song I'm currently loving to my opinion on the Tom-Kat divorce (I mean is anyone really surprised?). The possibilities are endless!
I leave you with the song from which I got my blog title from:
